When you wake up in the morning, what do you look forward to most about your day?
Living Well is an annual photography competition held by Sydney Local Health District to celebrate Mental Health Week.
Entry is free, and the competition is open to anybody in NSW with a lived experience of mental illness, including carers.
This year’s theme is ‘The Best Part of My Day’ – this could be a photo of a special spot that you go to, or portraits of friends, family or loved ones that brighten up your day, or even just a part of your daily routine that you enjoy, like watching the sun rise or walking to work.
Entrants can submit up to 3 photographs, and everyone who participates gets a personalised certificate, but there are also cash prizes up for grabs for the best entries- the top three prizes are $300, $200 and $100 cheques respectively, and there’s also a Mental Health Commissioner’s Prize of another $100 cheque.
Entries close at midnight on Friday September 30, and the best photographs will be on display at the Professor Marie Bashir Centre in Camperdown from October 10-14. There will also be an awards ceremony on October 17 from 2-3pm at the same venue.
